Review #60: The Single Cask Glentauchers 1996 22 Years Old #7841

This review focuses on the first of two exceptional expressions of Glentauchers and this was distilled in 1996, matured initially in a bourbon hogshead before being finished in an Oloroso hogshead for an additional period of time then being bottled at a cask strength abv of 54% in 2019.

So, let's dive right into the review!

The Single Cask Glentauchers 1996 22 Years Old #7841 (54% abv)

Nose: Spiced vanilla, warm and packed with delicate fruit aromas. Thick honey and gingerbread.   Palate: Rich caramel, a hint of salt and cracked black pepper. Very rich and velvety, this is an easy-drinking whisky. The flavours imparted by the sherry cask are there but don't dominate.   Finish: A long, oaky finish, with some lingering cinnamon and sherried notes.

This expression is available by the dram or as a part of a flight and can also be purchased by the bottle at the following link:
