Glen Garioch distillery is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, and also one of the smallest in the country. Owned by multinational spirits company, Beam Suntory, it plays a rather important role in both the blending and single malt aspects of the company's production and brands.
Situated in the Oldmeldrum area of Aberdeenshire in Scotland, the distillery is said to be located on some of the most fertile lands in the entire country, which bodes well for the whisky which it produces as it has been known for producing some of the finest barley available.
The Single Cask has had experience with the whisky from this venerable distillery, having bottled a single cask expression previously. This expression was distilled in 1995 (which was just after the distillery switched to an unpeated style), was matured in a single bourbon cask for 19 years before being bottled in 2014 at a staggering 62.7% abv.
With an outturn of only 77 bottles, this expression was always bound to be limited and there are now only a handful of bottles left in the bar, all of which have been reserved for in-bar consumption by the dram or by the flight.
So do make a trip down to The Single Cask to sample this exquisite Glen Garioch while you can, as it won't be available for much longer!
