This review focuses on an impressive expression of Braeval which was distilled in 1994, matured in a bourbon hogshead before being bottled at a cask strength abv of 55% in 2017.

The Single Cask Braeval 1994 22 Years Old (55% abv)


Nose: Mellow and sweet, like sugar caramelising in a pan. Buttered muffins, soft fruit and slight hints of barrel char.   Palate: Intense and floral at first, with malt at the core. Layers of vanilla, lemon and stonefruits appear soon afterwards.   Finish: Medium finish, with slightly sweetened coffee and five-spice.
