This review focuses on a rather interesting Tomatin and this expression was distilled in 2006, matured initially in a bourbon hogshead before being transferred to an Oloroso octave for an additional 3 months of maturation before being bottled at a cask strength abv of 55.2% in 2018.
So, let's dive right into the review!
The Single Cask Tomatin 2006 11 Years Old (55.2% abv)
Nose: Intensely sweet and fiery, with hints of ginger and spice along with the expected 'Christmas cake' aromas. Palate: Rich, sweet and spicy. Fruity and syrupy notes are complemented by hints of citrus, heavy oak and nuts. Finish: Long and intensely warming; take the time to sift through the sweet tannins and find all those hidden fruits.
