Review #36: The Single Cask English Whisky Co 2009 8 Years Old

This review focuses on the second of three expressions that have been bottled from St George's distillery in Norfolk and this expression was distilled in 2009, matured for 8 years in a bourbon hogshead before being bottled at a cask strength abv of 60% in 2018.


So, let's dive right into the review!


The Single Cask English Whisky Co 2009 8 Years Old (60% abv)


Nose: Slightly dirty peat, engine oil hints coupled with iodine, creosote, menthol and herbal hints. Sweet malt, earth, green leaves, thyme, followed by cinnamon and cloves.   Palate: More malty sweetness on the palate, followed by limestone, toffee, barley sugar, peat, green hints and menthol. Pencil shavings and white pepper, followed by oak and earth.   Finish: Long, spicy and lingering finish.
