This review focuses on a rather interesting Tomintoul and this expression was distilled in 1995, matured in a bourbon hogshead for 22 years before being bottled at a natural cask strength abv of 53.2% in 2017.

The Single Cask Tomintoul 1995 22 Years Old (53.2% abv)


Nose: A whiff of tobacco and also rather sweet. Faint herbals (sage and thyme in particular) and some notes of lemon cheesecake, guava and honey.   Palate: Slight sweetness and a certain citrusy note. Clean and pleasant, with the herbs transferring onto the palate. Sponge cake and butter.   Finish: Quite drying and with lingering oaky notes, along with brown sugar and black pepper.
