The whiskies that we bottle for The Single Cask are as advertised: The product of a single cask, be it bourbon, sherry or other. The other part which also needs to be mentioned is that they are inherently limited in number.
As such, there will come a point in time when some bottles in The Single Cask range are no longer available, which provides patrons with the classic feeling of FOMO, or the Fear Of Missing Out.
We have therefore written this article to provide patrons with some pertinent information about 3 of our whiskies which are destined to run out in the very near future. This will also be the last chance for patrons to sample them before they're gone forever!
The Single Cask Linkwood 1984 26 Years Old (47.8% abv)
This exceptional expression of Linkwood was distilled in 1984 (at what was the older part of the distillery which has since been demolished), matured for 26 years in a sherry butt before being bottled at a cask strength abv of 47.8% by The Single Cask.
This exquisite dram shows a nose of oranges with hints of vanilla cream, spices and cured ham!
The palate is on barley sugar and allspice. Creamy vanilla custard and manuka honey. Citrus.
The finish is a floral potpourri and recalls grist.
A proper treat, this!
The Single Cask Bowmore 2001 14 Years Old (50% abv)
This Bowmore is one of our personal favourites and with only 90 bottles produced, it is exceedingly rare. The final bottle has been opened and is available only by the dram at the bar and it provides patrons with a glimpse into what happens when there is a marriage between great distillate and an exceptional bourbon cask.
This amazing Bowmore was distilled in 2001, matured in a first-fill bourbon cask for 14 years before being bottled at 50% abv by The Single Cask.
The bountiful nose showcases light wafts of bonfire on beaches, with a touch of vanilla-rich caramel and black tea.
The palate provides golden malt, salted butter on crumpets, light BBQ hints and some earthier notes of peat.
The finish? A beautiful smoke-forward crescendo.
Worth every dollar!
The Single Cask Glenrothes 1997 19 Years Old (58% abv)
We love our Glenrothes and there aren't many distilleries which can reliably produce a well-matured sherrybomb of a whisky! This exceptionally dark expression was distilled in 1997, matured in a first fill dark (and we can't emphasise just how DARK this one is!) sherry butt for 19 years before being bottled at a cask strength abv of 58% by The Single Cask.
The nose exhibits slight alcohol hints coupled with black pepper, red fruits, light sherry and cinnamon. Slightly meaty, with hints of worn leather and tobacco pouch.
The palate is sweet, rich and rounded, with sherry traces, black pepper, oak and meaty hints combining well. Nutmeg and cinnamon develop over time. A big and bold mouthfeel.
The finish is long and lingering, with the sweetness and wood spices in control alongside the oak and black pepper.
There aren't many bottles of this and it's only a matter of time before they're all gone!
These expressions are all available by the dram, with the Linkwood and Glenrothes also featuring in some of our whisky flights.
So head over to the bar one of these days to sample these delightful drams. We would advise that you do so quickly as they will run out in no time!
