The Single Cask Whisky Review #85: The Single Cask Strathmill 1996 21 Years Old

This week's review focuses on the next expression in a series of reviews devoted to the new arrivals within The Single Cask range, and we've put up a rather interesting Ardmore!

This expression was distilled in 1996, matured for 21 years in a single bourbon hogshead and bottled at a cask strength abv of 53.1% by The Single Cask.

So, let's dive right into the review!

The Single Cask Strathmill 1996 21 Years Old (Bottled at 53.1% abv)

Colour: Deep gold

Nose: A light and fragrant whisky. The nose includes caramel, butterscotch and blueberries, with floral hints of green tea and hops.

Palate: More fruity flavours come through on the palate, including peaches and apples, followed by the oak influence in the form of vanilla cheesecake and digestive biscuits.

Finish: The finish is subtle, with earthy herbs, wax peel and coconut.

Balance: A very well-balanced and immensely drinkable expression which exhibits the classic fruity, malty and herbal aspects that one would expect from a Strathmill. The mouthfeel is oily with a touch of dryness.

This expression is available for purchase by the dram or as a part of a flight for in-bar consumption, as well as by the bottle for either in-bar or retail/takeaway purposes. Please approach our friendly staff for more information and they will be more than happy to assist you with any queries you have have.
