The third report in our Feis Ile series brought us to Laphroaig, which is a distillery with of worldwide repute and also the home of the best selling Islay whisky.
Following on from a rather sedate yet enjoyable Caol Ila Open Day, we found ourselves at Laphroaig and were confronted with some exceptional weather and brilliant sunshine.
This was forecast to be the day with the best weather and we weren't left disappointed as there were blue skies aplenty, not to mention some good whisky.
We had of course brought along another of our new releases, although this is one that we're looking to keep under wraps for now as there are some items that we have left to finalise.
We also had the opportunity to sample the distillery's Feis Ile Cairdeas release, which was a cask strength version of their well-received Triple Wood expression. The whisky certainly was enjoyable and surprisingly easy to drink considering its cask strength nature.
As the weather was exceptionally good (and turned out to be the best of the entire week), we wasted no time and took out the Dram Drone in order to capture some footage of Laphroaig Open Day.
The crowd was enjoying the festivities and the band did a great job of trying to include the crowd in their various dances and games.
In the meantime, we began sharing our mystery bottle with our fellow attendees and it definitely received a great response as there were many enquiries as to where one was able to purchase a bottle.
While this expression is currently unavailable, it will be in the very near future and more information will be released in due course, so please do keep an eye out for it.
