Review #48: The Single Cask Strathclyde 1987 30 Years Old

This review focuses on a tasty grain whisky from Strathclyde distillery in Glasgow and this expression was initially matured in a bourbon hogshead before being transferred to a rum barrel for an additional year of maturation before being bottled at 30 years of age and at a cask strength abv of 52.6% in 2017.

So, let's dive right into the review!

The Single Cask Strathclyde 1987 30 Years Old (52.6% abv)

Nose: Some hints of rum, followed by sweet grainy notes, white pepper, popcorn and green, herbal elements.

Palate: More rum-like sweetness, along with furniture polish at casks strength, drying oak and green ferns.

Finish: Long and sweet; an fine example of grain whisky at its best.

This expression is available in extremely limited quantities by the dram or as a part of a flight at The Single Cask.
