Review #34: The Single Cask Croftengea 2007 11 Years Old

This review focuses on a rather interesting Croftengea, which is the most heavily peated offering from Loch Lomond distillery. This expression was distilled in 2007, matured in a bourbon hogshead for 11 years before being bottled at a natural cask strength abv of 60.2% in 2018.

So, let's dive right into the review!

The Single Cask Croftengea 2007 11 Years Old (60.2% abv)

Nose: Oil lamps, dusky peat, sea salt, sea shells, brine, oysters and a host of other maritime hints. Tarry ropes, slight barley sweetness followed by camphor, wet wool, malt, grist and oak.

Palate: Robust, sweet yet spicy with a lick of maritime and dusky peat. Sea salt, pitch, oysters and driftwood. Oak, slight cinnamon to round things off.

Finish: Long and lingering, with the peat and oily, maritime notes bringing things to a close.

This expression is available for purchase by the dram or as a part of a flight and can also be purchased by the bottle at the following link:
